About Vance

Our Mission

Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is a welcoming, active, community-oriented, theologically Reformed congregation where all people are celebrated and valued as we worship the Triune God, engage in mission, and serve our community and beyond.

Our History

Vance Church was built in 1897 by a successful Wheeling industrialist, James Nelson Vance, in honor of his parents. Vance Church is a community church composed of believers of varied backgrounds and ages, who have a hunger to know more about Christ and His Word. Ever since our beginning the members of Vance Church have been leaders in the Christian community as well as in the community as a whole. Vance Church has seen many changes over the years, but throughout these changes our church has remained a strong and caring community of believers where all can find support and encouragement to grow in their knowledge of our Lord and His power.
